Tips from the Trenches – A Beginners Guide to Preparing for a Successful Commercial Real Estate Closing

Ann Jennings will provide a broad overview of commercial closings and highlight some key differences from residential closings. She will touch on broad range of matters routinely encountered in a commercial transaction which are not typically seen in a residential transaction such as: company authority documents, ALTA surveys, appurtenant easement, closing instruction letters, leases and endorsement issues.

Learn about common HR issues, current trends and the most frequent mistakes that land employers in legal hot water. Topics will include wage and hour issues, such as when an hourly employee is “on the clock”, when you can dock a salaried employee’s pay and the benefits and pitfalls of allowing employees to use their own personal cell phones and computers for work. He will also discuss medical leave, attendance polices and the pitfalls of employee’s use of social media.

Title Agency Ethics: Operating Ethically in an Unethical World

Join Russ Kutell for a discussion of how the Rules of Professional Conduct impact the operations of title agents and attorneys in the title industry. This discussion will involve the Rules concerning the duty of competence, the safekeeping of funds, the supervision of employees and conflicts of interest.
- We have applied for 8.5 general CLE credit hours from the Supreme Court of Ohio.
- We have been approved for 4.5 CLE and 1.0 ethics credit hours from the Kentucky Bar Association.
- We have been approved for 7.0 title CIE and 1.0 ethics CIE credit hour. The course level is intermediate.
- The experience and qualifications of the instructors available upon request.
To receive continuing insurance education (CIE) credit, you must do the following for each session (an exam is not required to receive credit)
- Sign the attendance roster before the session;
- Attend the session in its entirety;
- Complete & sign the request for CIE credits; and Sign the attendance roster before the session;

- Complete & sign the request for CIE credits; and Turn in the request for CIE credits at the end of the session.
Partial CIE credit can be given to attendees of this seminar. The credit must be rounded down to half hour increments.

Requirements for Continuing Legal Education credit have not changed. You are still required to provide your Attorney Registration Number to receive credit.

To receive the convention rate of $195 + tax per night, you must reference the "OLT" when you make the reservation or Book Online. The hotel will honor the rate until August 16, 2019. Valet parking is available for $20 per day. Self-parking is complimentary to OLTA guests. Check in is 4:00 pm; check out is 12:00 pm.
